 The VETERANS VILLAGE THRIFT STORE, Las Vegas is a community project managed by SHARE a 501 © (3) non-profit organization. FED ID#- 94-3209791 Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for this donation. Federal law provides that clothing and household goods must be in “good used condition or better” in order to order to qualify for tax deductions. “You may deduct charitable contributions of money or property made to qualified organizations if you itemize your deductions.” (IRS Publication 78)

The sale of donated items are used to support operations at Veterans Village, a transitional housing facility for United States Veterans and their families.

SHARE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1994 by business executives dedicated to providing affordable housing for individuals in need. During its nearly 20 year history, the organization has served hundreds of families, seniors, veterans and those with physical challenges or terminal illnesses.

Veterans Villages utilizes all in-kind donations it receives!  Every in-kind donation directly benefits Veterans, Veteran families, programs, events and operations at Veterans Village.   Contributions of food, clothing, toiletries and linens help tremendously!  Other helpful items include

Veteran’s Village, Downtown Las Vegas is a retrofitted motel which
serves as transitional housing for United States Veterans. “The former Econo
Lodge Motel has been refurbished and provides a safe, clean and affordable
transitional residence for our United States Veterans.

“Why are Veterans homeless? Shortage of affordable housing, livable income, access to health care, lingering effects of PTSD, substance abuse, and a lack of family and social support networks are all factors influencing homelessness” -National Coalition for Homeless Veterans

“The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have brought renewed attention to the needs of veterans, including the needs of homeless veterans. Homeless veterans initially came to the country’s attention in the 1970s and 1980s, when homelessness generally was becoming a more prevalent
and noticeable phenomenon.  At the same time that the number of homeless persons began to grow, it became clear through various analyses of homeless individuals that homeless veterans were overrepresented in the homeless population.” -Federation of American Scientists Congressional Reseach

Although Government agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs has established programs to assist in the relief for homeless Veterans local collaborative projects are still needed to reduce the number of Veterans needing housing assistance.  Veterans Village Las Vegas has coordinated an effective community collaborative to guide Veterans and their families through times of crisis.
