Tour The Veterans Village Instant Built House

Housing for our heroes with respect and dignity~~

A housing unit made from a standardized,Recycled ISO shipping container.  The recycled housing units can be rapidly transported anywhere in the country via railroad “piggy-back” trains, semi, or jumbo air cargo transports for immediate occupancy for affordable housing that provides stability and support for our homeless, displaced and disadvantaged United States Veterans to successfully transition back into civilian life.   Building materials for the prototype were funded by a grant received from the Home Depot Foundation who continues to support Veterans Village, Our United States Veterans an others in need across the country.

This fast construction, economically sound environmentally friendly options aims to create a comprehensive housing solution to meet the need for affordable housing that provides stability and support for our veterans to successfully transition back into civilian life. (Download Information Here)

Veterans Village is  the ONLY 24/7  crisis intervention facility for veterans and their families in Las Vegas. The 55th Annual IFA Convention kicked off their 2015 convention in Las Vegas by spending a day at Veterans Village. The convention industry is the number one industry in Las Vegas. It’s our pleasure to be able to share our community with our visitors. #TourismMatters

A four month chronology-PLEASE READ This is one reason why the VA needs massive reforms-

“Bill” has $12,000+ that is locked in an account by The VA and Federal Government because he does not have a Nevada identification———

Month #1
Bill is a United States Marine Veteran who was living on the streets homeless in Downtown Las Vegas for a long time-
Lost his wallet and his VA ID card along with his form #DD214.
Veterans Village (VV) Crisis team brings Bill to Veterans Village-
Triage on Bill is done in less than 30 minutes.
Bill becomes a VV resident and the paperwork to get his ID begins.
DMV denies Bill an ID-
VA fails at helping Bill-
VV pays rent and expenses, clothing, medical attention and nutrition for Bill.

Month #2
VA fails at helping Bill-
Bill gets free medical attention from VV/Touro University @ VV-
VV staff works on a daily basis to get Bill’s paperwork.
VV funds Bill’s rent, expenses and meds so he can survive his illnesses-
DMV denies Bill an ID-
VA fails to provide Bill with his medication-almost dies
VA fails at helping Bill-

Month #3
VA fails at helping Bill-
Bill gets free medical attention from VV/Touro University @ VV-
VV staff works on a daily basis to get Bill’s paperwork.
VV funds Bill’s rent, expenses and meds so he can survive his illnesses-\
DMV denies Bill and ID-
VA fails to provide Bill with his medication-
VA fails at helping Bill-

Month #4
VA fails at helping Bill-
Bill gets free medical attention from VV/Touro University @ VV-
VV staff works on a daily basis to get Bill’s paperwork.
VV funds Bill’s rent, expenses and meds so he can survive his illnesses-
DMV denies Bill an ID-
VA fails to provide Bill with his medication-
VA fails at helping Bill-

End of Month #4 120+ days after rescue from the streets–
VV staff led by Wendy Grant, VV Crisis Intervention Coordinator, works tirelessly to shake the system and get Bill an ID-

After 160 days, Bill gets his ID and funds released-
Bill pays his back rent.
VV makes sure Bill is a permanent resident-
VA remains the same business as usual-

A Marine Veteran is rescued from homelessness–Pride restored–
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED~~

RTC Donates Para transit Vehicle to Veterans Village!

RTCVeterans Village, Downtown Las Vegas is honored and humbled to accept the donation of a vehicle from The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada. Specal thanks to The Board of Commissioners and the staff of RTCSN. We will use this vehicle to:
Pick up emergency food- Supplies-Medical transportation-Other basic services for our Veterans
